Write your Family History Workshop with Keith Whelan.

Saturday 3 May 10:00am-1:00pm. Oran Park Library - Lakeside Room.

In this workshop, you will learn how to master writing your family history. Most genealogy books and sites show how to research your family. But crafting your findings or your own life story into a format others will want to read is the real challenge. Why are you writing it and who is your prospective reader? Ideal for those writing autobiographies, memoirs, and family history. 10am-12noon.

Includes light refreshments and a display by Camden Area Family History Society, with an opportunity to find out more about researching your family history. 12.15pm - 1pm.

Unearthing Lost History: An Afternoon in Camden Library.

Saturday 17 May 12:30pm-3:30pm. Camden Library.

Join us for an afternoon of unearthing lost history as part of the celebrations of the 2025 Australian Heritage Festival.

Dr Ian Willis OAM will present a talk on Death in training at the Liverpool Field Hospital in early 1915.

Death on the battlefield is expected, yet the death of new recruits to the army in 1915 sent a shock across the country. Dr Ian Willis will examine the public outcry and subsequent Royal Commission about the abysmal conditions at the Liverpool Field Hospital. The military authorities were ill-prepared for war and overwhelmed by the conditions at the Liverpool Military Camp in the conflict's early months. This story also examines the groundbreaking role of the Red Cross in Australia after its formation in 1914 and its interaction with the military authorities in Australia in the early months of the war.

Jo O'Brien from Camden Area Family History Society will present an informative talk on Digging up the past with TROVE.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Free. Bookings essential!
